To identify your exact unit, check the white adhesive label on the door jamb or top track. You’ll find a 12-digit serial number starting with the series prefix, the manufacture date code, and the NFRC rating block. The date matters: pre-2019 units used a 1.5-inch diameter nylon roller with a 7/16-inch axle bore; post-2019 production switched to a 1.75-inch roller with a sealed bearing and a 1/2-inch bore. The axles are not interchangeable, and forcing the wrong roller will chew the track in two seasons.

We stock both OEM Therma-Tru rollers and Amesbury Truth aftermarket equivalents that match the post-2019 spec. The Truth rollers run $18-$26 per pair versus $34-$48 for OEM, and in our experience they outlast the factory nylon in Three Lakes’ UV exposure. Signs Your Therma-Tru Sliding or Patio Door Is Failing

• The door requires shoulder weight to move. This usually means the rollers have flattened or the axle has galled in the housing. On Therma-Tru units, the roller housing is riveted to the bottom rail, so the whole panel must come out to access it. We see this most on south-facing doors in Three Lakes where the aluminum track expands 1/8 inch or more daily.
• Visible daylight between the sash and the jamb when closed. The interlock weatherstrip has compressed past recovery, or the door has dropped on its rollers and no longer seats square. Either way, your conditioned air is leaving and the FPL meter is spinning faster.
• Water pooling on the interior track after rain. The weep slots in the sill are clogged with pollen and aluminum oxide, or the sill pan was never sealed to the subsill during original install. Therma-Tru’s sill design has four weep channels; if two are blocked, water finds the path of least resistance inward.
• The screen door jumps the track or binds at the latch side. Screen rollers are smaller and cheaper than panel rollers, and they fail first. The screen frame itself may also be racked from repeated slamming, which we measure with a 6-foot level before quoting.
• Condensation between the glass panes. The insulated glass unit (IGU) has lost its seal. Therma-Tru uses a warm-edge spacer, but South Florida’s thermal cycling eventually wins. The IGU is replaceable without changing the frame, typically $340-$580 for a 70 x 80 inch panel.

The bottom rail must be lifted from the track, which requires releasing the head jamb screws to create clearance. Drop a panel, and you’re looking at shattered glass or a crushed finger. We don’t recommend it.
