Meet the Three Lakes Team Behind Sightline Windows & Doors Three Lakes

The crew that shows up at your door in Three Lakes isn’t a rotating roster. These are the same people who measured your neighbor’s frames last month, who know which PGT series holds up best against the afternoon sun on 152nd Street, and who’ve each sat across from Sonia Raman while she checked their license numbers against the county database. What unites them is simple: they don’t start work until the customer has a written price, and they don’t leave until the photo record is complete.

Sonia Raman, Owner

I started Sightline in 2012 because I was tired of watching homeowners in Miami-Dade get one number on the phone and another when the crew arrived. Before I ever hung a shingle in Three Lakes, I spent three years as a field measurer for a regional window distributor, crawling through attics with a laser and a notepad, learning that the measurement and the quote had to be the same document or someone was getting deceived. I hold a Florida Specialty Structure Contractor license and personally review every measured survey before it becomes a written quote. Off the job, I keep a small citrus grove in Redland that produces exactly enough Key limes each winter to remind me why I prefer precision agriculture to guesswork.

Marcus T., Lead Technician

Marcus has been with Sightline since 2017, which means he’s installed roughly 2,400 individual openings across Miami-Dade and Broward counties. He’s certified in impact-rated installation by PGT and CGI, and he’s the person Sonia sends when a frame is out of plumb by more than a quarter-inch, which happens more often than you’d think in Three Lakes homes built during the 1980s stucco boom. Marcus carries a torpedo level in his back pocket that he’s had since trade school, and he’s been known to reject a manufacturer’s installation diagram when the field conditions don’t match the drawing. He lives in Country Walk with two rescue pit bulls who, he claims, have better door manners than most subcontractors.

Elena V., Senior Installer

Elena joined us in 2019 after eight years with a commercial glazing contractor in Hialeah, where she learned to read structural drawings and argue with architects about sightline dimensions, which is a harder skill than it sounds. At Sightline, she specializes in custom and geometric window installations, the kind where the opening isn’t rectangular and the manufacturer needs field-verified angles before they’ll fabricate. She’s certified in Therma-Tru and ViewLux entry systems, and she’s particularly good at talking homeowners through why their octagonal feature window costs what it costs. Elena keeps a notebook of every unusual installation she’s done, organized by neighborhood, and she’s currently trying to convince Sonia that Three Lakes needs its own entry for the collection.

Darnell J., Service Coordinator

Darnell answers the phones that ring at 11 PM when a customer in Three Lakes notices water intrusion around a frame they had installed years ago by someone else. He’s been with Sightline since 2020, and he’s the reason our live-answer policy actually functions, scheduling measured surveys, flagging permit requirements for Miami-Dade’s specific wind-borne debris zones, and making sure Marcus and Elena aren’t double-booked across county lines. Before this, he coordinated logistics for a medical supply company, which taught him that people remember how you handled their emergency more than they remember your regular hours. Darnell can recite the H.A.V.E.N. Standard clauses from memory, and he’s been known to quote Haven Clause 1 to telemarketers who try to sell him lead lists.

Isaac R., Apprentice Installer

Isaac started with us in 2023, fresh from the Miami-Dade College construction trades program, and he’s working through his 4,000 supervised hours toward his own installer certification. Right now he shadows Marcus on impact-rated jobs, learning why a 2×4 at 34 miles per hour doesn’t care how pretty the caulking looks if the anchoring schedule is wrong. He’s already certified in basic measuring and can handle standard vinyl replacement windows solo, though Sonia still checks his surveys against her own notes. Isaac grew up in a 1978 ranch near Snapper Creek that lost its roof in Hurricane Andrew, which is why he takes the “rated for” part of impact-rated more seriously than most people his age. He drives a 2009 Tacoma with 287,000 miles and refuses to replace it until he finishes his apprenticeship.

The Haven Standard wasn’t designed to be memorable. It was designed so that if any of us deviated from it, the customer would have a document proving we promised otherwise. That’s why we reference it by clause when we make a commitment. It’s not trust-building language. It’s evidence.
